Now a Lecturer at the University of Glasgow, Marwa Mahmoud studied for her PhD at King’s before staying on to complete a Junior Research Fellowship from 2016 to 2021. Her work focuses on computer vision for social signal processing – teaching computers to recognise human emotions – and she pioneered an AI system able to detect pain in sheep, helping farmers and vets with the diagnosis of disease.
