This exhibition of 50 photographic portraits of King’s women, by award winning photographer Jooney Woodward, was created as part of the 50th anniversary of the admission of women as students to the College.
It reflects a broad cross section of the King’s community: from the trailblazing women who first arrived at the College in 1972 to the most recent cohort of undergraduates. The subjects include current Fellows and students of King’s, alumnae from an array of different disciplines and careers, and the staff working behind the scenes to keep the college ticking.
All fifty portraits in the series were photographed in Spring 2023, and displayed in King’s College Chapel between June and September. The portraits will remain on long term display in the College, becoming part of the permanent art collection at King’s and helping to address the balance of visual representation of women on the College’s walls.
We are grateful to all the women who took part, and to Pauline and Trevor Gazard for their support of the 50 Portraits project.
