About the Speaker:
Bridget Collins (KC 1999) is a British author of adult and young adult fiction. She studied English at King’s and subsequently trained as an actor at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. After graduating from LAMDA, Bridget started writing fiction. Her first book, a young adult novel called The Traitor Game, was published in 2008, earning her the Branford Boase Award the following year. Bridget has had two plays produced, one at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Her first adult novel, The Binding, was published in 2019. It was endorsed by critics and audiences alike and shortlisted for Waterstones Book of the Year 2019.
Laura Davies (KC 2016) is a Lecturer in Eighteenth-Century Literature and Director of Studies in English at King's. Laura writes on British literature of the long eighteenth-century, with a particular interest in life writing and the textual representation of experiences that resist narration, including sound, time, death, and dreams. She is the co-founder of an interdisciplinary project called “A Good Death?” exploring ways to talk about and deal with death.
